neutral  Mason Hiatt: Mason Hiatt: According to Merriam Webster, a wise-guy is a person who says or does things that are funny but also annoying or somewhat rude. An entendido is simply an expert. the peer suggestions were accidentaly erased when I went to change my vote!

  -> We have to treat the expression as a whole. "Mostrar-se entendido" and "bancar o entendido" are totally different things. The latter conveys some degree of annoyance and denial of the person's knowledge. Anyway, thank you for your input.
