Hi all,

I am translating a memorandum put out by a cosmetics company. The intended audience is presumably its own employees. There's a part where it says: "Nossa equipe comercial conta hoje com mais de 140 pessoas: 1 Diretor Comercial, 7 Gerentes Regionais, 40 Representantes Comerciais...3 Administrativos." What does "administrativo" mean in this context? Administrative assistant? Administrator?

"Three administrative associates" e' uma abordagem mais atual na fraseologia e ideologia corporativa atual. A tendência no mundo corporativo de países como os EUA (assim como no Brasil) tem sido usar "associates", colaboradores, etc. ao invés de empregados (employees) ou funcionários. A razão de ser reside no fato de as empresas acreditarem que se os empregados forem chamados de "associados" ou "colaboradores" eles se sentirão mais "entitled", mais "parte da família" e, por conseguinte, pessoalmente mais interessados em "fazer a diferença" na corporação. Vale também para outras estruturas societárias que não sejam corporações. E' minha opinião.
