Hi,

I was just wondering if in the context of this sentence, 'temps' here refers to weather (i.e. weather conditions/stresses) or if it's just referring to the time (e.g. unrest)?

Ce jardin est l’héritage direct de nos moines bénédictins mais aussi celui de Charlemagne qui imposait des traditions horticoles à chaque domaine afin de contrer une éventuelle famine, épidémie et violences du temps.
