Shadowy security video from a Five Guys restaurant obtained by The News shows a man standing over Bostick’s body and then first responders working on her.

Is there a more concise way of translating this (within an interpretation context that prizes concision) than “un hombre que está de pie al lado de Bostick vigilándola.”

Yo creo que "standing over" en este contexto describe a una figura de pie mirando hacia abajo. Algunas imágenes:

Independientemente de que haya otras opciones válidas, creo que decir "ante" refleja la intención original.

No veo que haya diferencia. En ambos idiomas es sólo la descripción de una figura masculina en determinada posición con relación al cuerpo.
Dependerá de cómo armes la oración completa. Yo diría "En el video.... se ve a un hombre de pie ante el cuerpo de Bostick /un hombre que está de pie ante el cuerpo de Bostick..." (sin "a" la segunda vez).

There are three essential elements in the source that must be reflected in the translation: 1.) that the suspect in the video was standing; 2.) that he was facing Bostick; and 3.) that he was in relatively close proximity to Bostick.

The only suggestion that properly reflects all three of these elements is Cecilia's.

Asker: No se me había ocurrido "ante", pero me parece muy adecuada, puesto que por fuerza significa (por lo menos así me parece) que estaba cerca del cuerpo y cara a él.

Asker: Una pregunta: ¿Crees que "un hombre de pie" puede llevar a confusiones (a causa de tomarse por "un hombre común")? De repente "un hombre que está de pie" elimina tal confusión...

Añado esta porque en muchos casos no se traduce literalmente "stand" por "estar de pie" para un pie de foto. Alarga innecesariamente la leyenda puesto que se ve en la imagen.
