Spanish to English translations [PRO]
Medical - Medical (general) / informed consent forms
Spanish term or phrase: mala conducta en el ejercicio profesional
This is a sentence in the Lesiones relacionadas con la investigación section of an informed consent form where they tell the subjects what will happen if they suffer any harm while participating in the trial.

"El patrocinador del estudio no pagará por los gastos médicos en la medida que su lesión haya sido causada por *mala conducta en el ejercicio profesional* de [name of hospital] o un médico de [name of university].

Do they just mean "malpractice" here, or is there some other wording I need to use to capture the specific legal meaning of this phrase (in U.S. English)?

Thanks for your help.

Notes to answerer
Asker: Hi Seth, thanks for the suggestion. I think it has to be stronger than "unprofessional" because of the word "mala."
