The Port of Maó is inside Maó Harbour. The Port of Plymouth is inside Plymouth Sound, a natural harbour (which means shelter, protect or lodge). A port is a commerial installation for maritime traffic of goods, often purpose built, such as those at Barcelona, Tarragona and Vilanova. That said however, these artificial Ports are the only three safe harbours (puertos de refugio) on the Catalan Coast when running for shelter in a storm, meaning their artificial harbour mouths are wide and deep enough to enter in almost all conditions and weathers. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 1 hr (2017-05-01 15:38:28 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- And, once inside, there is good shelter . |
