English term or phrase: to purge
מדובר במדחס.

הפעולה המבוקשת היא "דחיפה" של האוויר הנמצא במדחס על ידי גז אחר כלשהו, לצורך הוצאת האוויר מהמדחס והחלפתו בגז.

להפליט
Explanation:
I have no idea of the term used by technical people in this field, but this seems quite appropriate.
The association in my mind is
כבולעו כך פולטו
and just as issur is purged in that context, say, from the wall of the pot in which it was absorbed, so in the current context the air in the compressor is expelled and replaced with another gas.

The compressor is being purged of air.
להפליט אוויר מהמדחס
is the closest equivalent that I can think of. Don't think being more literal will be more understandable.

פליטה
is used for "emission" - for example of motor vehicle exhaust, or of radiation.
In this case
להפליט
would be to cause the air in the compressor to be emitted [and replaced with another gas]

agree  Geoffrey Black: I agree. להפליט is not correct in this case, as it means to exude.

Notes to answerer
Asker: Nice one! However, in my case it says that the compressor is purged, not the air. How would you change the answer accordingly?

Asker: I think כסא מפלט supports Robert Hammer's case, no?

Peer comments on this answer (and responses from the answerer)
disagree  Geoffrey Black: להפליט is not correct in this case, as it means to exudeץ A car exhaust is exactly that, exuded from combustion. This case is different. Even שארית הפליטה implies something unfortunately similar. One says לטהר אוויר and in this case too.

-> "Plita" is the word used for vehicle exhaust emissions, so it seems quite appropriate for this context also.
