and "por otra parte"...... My problema is that in the introductio the autor specifically says "El ejercicio en los TCA se ha evaluado desde tres dimensiones: cuantitativa, biológica y cualitativa" so I feel obliged to indulge her a little. So far, I have cowardly translated the whole article and highlighted all the "dimensión" expressions, and will deal with them with a fresh mind tomorrow morning. If you drop it, I don't think you even have to let the client know. One of my clients has instructions for translators giving a list of phrases and constructions that should be dropped or the sentence rephrased so they can be eliminated. Examples: "Desde el punto de vista de", En el contexto de","Es importante notar que," and on and on. Not to mention the infamous "Asimismo...."

This construction is repeated so many times that, even if you can find several synonyms like those Simon has suggested, the text could still read oddly. I think you may be justified in leaving it out where the omission wouldn't materially affect the reader's understanding, and putting a translator's note saying why.
In your second example, you could ignore it and simply say "qualitative associations".
