I think you may be having trouble following this because you are parsing it curiously. You really need to look at this as 2 separate expressions:
"...or if 'expressed in writing to be so by the Company' // 'it may be general to any use'..."
At the start, it talks about its being 'specific', then there is an 'or', and the alternative that follows is 'general'.
You might find it easier to decipher if you look at it like this:
"a specific identified advertising campaign ... or ... it may be general ... if expressed in writing to be so by the Company"
