agree  Nikki Scott-Despaigne: Forget the picnic idea here as it is in the sentence before. Your idea of "outdoor" here is perfect.

neutral  B D Finch: That could be in a city square, which would hardly be very "champêtre".

open air musical interlude

Explanation:
I like the sound of

1) open-air musical interlude which gives me the image of a brief and informal musical performance as background to, or a break from other longer activities.
You could use the adjective rural (which is closer to the French) but I would go for open air as it is often used in the UK for live music and entertainment performed outdoors.

other ideas:
2) musical moments in a natural setting
3) musical entertainment in the open-air
4) rural musical moment/interlude

Also new this year was our first “Enchanted Evening”, an open air musical interlude graciously hosted by Bob and Lynne Neal at their new historic home, Cro’ Hurst, on Elkhart Hill. To say it was the perfect evening, beautiful music, fabulous setting, and delicious food would not do it justice.

London comes alive in the summer, with a wealth of culture, arts, galleries, //open air theatre and musical entertainment// to keep everyone entertained. It is also the perfect season to simply stroll around our neighbourhood, with Hyde Park vibrant in colour, blooming with flowers and pristine, manicured gardens.
