DOC: 1907 Museum catalog of ancient Egyptian mirrors. Catalog entry.
CONTEXT: 44016. Manche de miroir. - Bois et ivoire. [....] CONSERVATION. Intact dans l'ensemble. Le chapiteau, ***éclaté en deux morceaux***, est recollé. La couleur pourpre ou cochenille a tourné au brun rouge.
ATTEMPT: The capital, chipped off into two pieces, is patched up. The purple color or cochineal [a scarlet dye] has turned reddish brown. .
QUERY: My author uses éclaté quite often and "chipped" has worked well for almost every instance, but I'm not so sure here. He doesn't elaborate. Do you think my translation covers it?

  -> Thanks. Spelling of "two"? I think that "split in two" better translates the ST here. Using "into" removes the idea of force. If a group of people is split in two, it implies conflict; if split into two that's just organisation.
