I am aware of the meaning of "caer en mora" but I am struggling with the meaning of "hacer caer en mora" which appears twice in a text that I am translating regarding recommendations for a standard footballer's contract in Central America.

The two instances read as follows:

"Sin perjuicio de otras posibles causales que se examinarán caso a caso, el jugador podrá rescindir anticipadamente su contrato con justa causa en caso de que el club mantenga adeudos, siempre y cuando el jugador HAGA CAER EN MORA al club, otorgándole 10 días para pagar la totalidad del monto adeudado"

and

"El club podrá rescindir el contrato con justa causa en caso de violación grave de las obligaciones sustanciales del jugador. Si fuera aplicable, deberá HACER CAER EN MORA al jugador dándole un plazo razonable para cumplir con sus obligaciones"

I understand it to mean in both cases that the party has to give the other party formal notice of its default so that the defaulting party will be able to remedy any oversight that may have occurred.
