In Austria, le indicazioni e gli atti relativi alle società anonime (AG) e alle società a responsabilità limitata (GmbH) di cui all'articolo 2 della direttiva 2009/101/CE sono contenute nel registro delle imprese (Firmenbuch), che ha per base giuridica il codice delle società austriache (Unternehmensgesetzbuch - "UGB") e la legge relativa al registro del commercio (Firmenbuchgesetz - "FBG"). Il registro del commercio è tenuto dai tribunali sotto forma di registro elettronico. È costituito da un registro principale (Hauptbuch), in cui sono menzionate le iscrizioni e le radiazioni dei fatti giuridici (ad esempio il potere di rappresentanza di un organo), e da un archivio (Urkundensammlung) che raccoglie i documenti pertinenti (ad esempio, gli statuti).
