Have found various sources suggesting that this chronicle was not written by Alonso Jáimez de Sotomayor himself, but by members of his family and others.

En el primer cuarto del siglo XVI Francisco Jáimez de Sotomayor, ensalzando la presencialidad de su padre Alonso y la gallardía de su tío materno Juan Rejón, redacta o encarga una crónica de la conquista en estrecha consonancia con los intereses agrarios y territoriales de los descendientes de conquistadores y colonos residentes en aquella localidad.
