This is a business plan for the Port of Montreal, full of facts & figures and tables. One of the projections addresses the need for dredging (deepening berths, channels, etc to handle future traffic). The increased need for dredging is expressed as percentage increases and broken down into 3 categories: "L", "B" and "H".
I know that L, B, H are not berth designations, as its berths are designated by number (78, 80, etc).
So what could L, B, H refer to?
Are they dimensions of some sort?
I'm totally stumped, and as they are only single characters it's impossible to 'search' for them in any meaningful way.
I'd be grateful to anyone who can help.

Possibly? Though "channel" would seem more likely than "lane" within a harbour.

The percentages would be the percentage increase in the dredging required for each of the categories concerned. 100% would be the previous requirement. FR>EN because it appears in a FR document.

It is puzzling to find English acronyms within a French article. But Quebec is strongly influenced by English jargon.

Supposed "Lane, Berth, Harbour" is correctly interpreted, I have still difficulties to understand the units 2.7%, 3.3% 4.0% for these installations. What they refer to? And what is 100 %? And in this case the language direction had been turned out being wrong. I should be changed to English-English.

Yes, as I said, doesn't quite ring true... unless it were the height of the actual wharf, but that seems irrelevant in terms of dredging.
I'm wondering it it is more about the TYPE of dock and/or the goods that might be handled there — you know, like contaners or bulk carriers, etc.

Thanks Tony, your insight is always valuable. However, although I can see how Length and Beam make sense, I have trouble with Height as a parameter for dredging. I'd have thought a more natural dredging term would be Depth (to ensure keel clearance). (?)

They're low single-digit percentages (2.7%, 3.3% 4.0%).

Sorry, perhaps you are right. L, B, H was so common for me that I forgot to look for the language pair. BTW, what are the numbers and units for L, B, H? For the moment I am puzzled. Perhaps the French source text may help to understand the "categories" and to decipher the symbols (as Tony already proposed).

Certainly unlikely to be German, but Canadians (even Québecois) do occasionally use EN abbreviations, here "Length, Breadth, Height". Maybe, but by no means certain!

The source language is French not German, so L,B,H cannot refer to Länge Breite Höhe(!). L,B,H are either French (or possibly English) abbeviations, certainly not German for the Port of Montreal.
