Более широкий по времени взгляд на технологические революции представлен в работе Элвина Тоффлера «The Third Wave: The Classic Study of Tomorrow» . Согласное его работе различные типы общества (волны) сменяют друг друга. Первая волна, которая стала результатом аграрной революции, сменила культуру охотников и собирателей и продолжалась до XVIII века. Вторая волна – результат индустриальной революции. С середины XX века под воздействием интеллектуальной революции формируется общество третьей волны – поистиндустриальное, которое в полной мере заменит вторую волну к 2025 году. Характерно, что периоды между волнами сокращаются.

Explanation:
I think this sentence would behave better in English, if it were rescued from the passive voice, and the noun "взгляд" converted to the verb "to look at":

"Alvin Toffler's The Third Wave... looked at technological revolutions over a longer span of time."

You could still write "broader" if you like, but normally historical time is thought of as stretching back lengthwise, not in width.
