I'm looking for a translation of the above term. I understand it to mean a type of hearing that happens once a court-supervised auction of a seized property has taken place and a higher bid has subsequently been made. Any good suggestions welcome.

re-auction following higher bid [made within 10 days]
Explanation:
This is a peculiarly French system, so we don't have a specific term for it in English. There is no 10-day waiting period for a 10% higher bid after British auctions.

Depending upon your context, you may want to give more or less information, e.g. that it is a legal requirement to re-auction following receipt of a 10% higher bid made within 10 days of the original auction.

disagree  AllegroTrans: audience is a false friend; and "seance of auction" is not English; also "I" is always capitalised

agree  AllegroTrans: one could say "court-ordered re-auction....etc" for clarity

-> Thanks AT. I suspect that only the original auction needed to be court-ordered, not the re-auction.

agree  writeaway: It's not just French. The same thing applies in Belgium with public sale of property. It's optional, not court-ordered.
