As I have said below to Charles, these works are generally referred to as 'pen-and-ink drawings' or 'drawings in pen-and-ink'. Here are some of Chagall's drawings in pen-and-ink being sold by Sotheby's: http://www.sothebys.com/en/auctions/ecatalogue/2011/fine-boo... If they use a term, then it is definitely, unquestionably right.

agree  James Peel: You should have a confidence of 5 here - there is surely no doubt about it!

agree  Chakib Roula: Absolutely correct.

neutral  Helen Shiner: Your Tate ref. says 'works IN ink' not ink works. An ink works is where ink is manufactured./Your MOMA ref. refers to the work illustrated as 'ink on paper' not an 'ink drawing'. Sorry, but we have to be precise in this field.

neutral  Nikki Scott-Despaigne: Michaux's work in ink includes painting and colour wash so "drawing" too restrictive here. Share HS's reserve on word order.

agree  Charles Davis: Ink drawings sounds all right, but somehow ink works doesn't. I would put it this way round. // And a quick Google, focusing on respectable gallery/museum/catalogue sources, amply confirms it. // "work in ink", singular, also works.

-> Thanks, Charles. Often translated as pen-and-ink drawings, but this is probably more in line with the French here.
