French term or phrase: Le tout sauf meilleurs ou plus récents confronts
Hi everyone,

This sentence appears on its own at the end of a notary's description of a property.
Earlier in the text, 'confronter' was used when saying what other buildings the property faced on the north, south, east and west sides.

I'm completely stumped on the whole sentence to be honest - particularly as 'meilleurs' and 'confronts' appear to be used as nouns here... can anyone help?!

Thank you!

English translation:subject to any more recent or accurate details of adjoining properties
Explanation:
I haven't found "confronts" in a dictionary but, as you say, it clearly means "details of adjoining properties". Here's another example:

Les parties, ci-après précisées, d’un immeuble situé numéro x, rue Comte Félix Gastaldi, à Monaco-Ville, ensemble le terrain sur lequel il repose et qui en dépend, paraissant cadastré sous le numéro 99 p. de la Section C, confrontant dans son ensemble :

- du Sud, à la rue Emile de Loth ;

- du Levant, à Monsieur Louis X ou ayant droit ;

- du couchant, à Monsieur Joseph X ou ayant droit ;

- et, du dessous, à Monsieur Paul x ou ayant droit.

Le tout **sauf meilleurs ou plus récents confronts s’il en existe.**

So "meilleurs" is an adjective, not a noun.

Or maybe "precise" rather than "accurate".

Adrian's answer is also very good, but this one fit my context better as it was talking about the buildings rather than the boundaries. Thanks for your help!

All save better-drawn or more recent boundaries

Explanation:
- specific to Languedoc (speaking the language of occitaine) and where the inhabitants are non-confront-ational.

A slight shift of emphasis from Phil G.'s answer, namely to the acutal borders and not the particulars thereof.

Boundaries and *building lines* ('...this one fit my context better as it was talking about the buildings rather than the boundaries').

Example sentence(s):
  • dans l’énoncé des confronts, le notaire (et peut-être son client) ne donne aucune priorité à la rivière, au ruisseau, au bois ou même à la route.
