Russian term or phrase: кузнечный горн, с парою
I'm trying to figure out where the furs are...I'm sure they aren't on the forge but I can't seem to escape that conclusion.

From a 19th century short story describing the inside of a Gypsy tent.

В стороне, более напереди, другая ямка, кузнечный горн, с парою бесконечно-заплатанных мехов, которыми работала девка, покачиваясь из стороны в сторону, между тем, а хозяин ковал что-то на наковальне, поставленной в самой середине шатра.

Nearby, closer to the front, there was another hole and the forge, with a pair of endlessly patched furs on which the girl was working. She rocked from side to side while the man of the dwelling was hammering something on the anvil that stood in the very center of the tent.

smithy hearth with a pair of [bellows]
Explanation:
The "furs" are bellows. Dal gives for мех - "поддувальный снаряд, для кузниц, органов".

The "forge" could be a "forge hearth" or "smithy hearth" to sound a bit more 19th-century.

agree  Alexander Kayumov: Меха - bellows, that's exactly right. But this can be found in any dictionary. :)

agree  beermatt: Well, as I'm not really bothered about points, I'll give you my "agree" even though I feel a little poached upon after my discussion entry... As I said, I'm not so bothered and I'd rather throw something in for discussion than post a big formal Answer...

-> Thanks. Sorry, I didn't mean to steal your glory. I don't read the discussion pages unless things get hot and interesting. But if you were to post your answer, rather than merely writing it in the discussion, then more people wd see it and not duplicate.
