Il mio tentativo è il seguente: Il metodo tradizionale, che può anche contribuire ad evitare i solchi lasciati delle ruote, prevede in primis l’utilizzo in lunghezza, tra una lapide e l’altra, di un tosaerba con conducente a piedi, quindi un taglio in larghezza con un tosaerba con conducente seduto.
C'è un'espressione tecnica per meglio spiegare "cut to the mower width"? Grazie a tutti in anticipo!

Explanation:
La tua interpretazionei sembra giusta. Ma non so se è "in orizzontale", cioè qui width si riferisce alla larghezza di taglio del tosaerba con conducente. Sostanzialmente sta dicendo i bordi attorno agli headstones con un tosaerba manuale e il resto a macchina con conducente.
