"foutre" is a multipurpose verb with meanings varying from dispose to chuck to fxxck to I don't care. English (of the Anglo Saxon variety) doesn't have a directly equivalent multipurpose verb.
The Irish and Scots use of "feck" (some believe this derives from the Gaelic verb "feicim" = to see) serves a somewhat similar purpose to "foutre".

I lived in Ireland for a short period and remember the expression "aaaraghh, feck it over the wall" which clearly cannot be a transliteration of the vulgate Anglo Saxon sweare worde.
Others will disagree of course.....

se foutre de quelqu'un -tu te fous de moi? can mean are you kidding me. The expression in your text means something else entirely. The French verb foutre is extremely versatile....... Foutre quelque chose en l'air is what you have to look up or should have looked up. It's a very common expression.

No, he's not half of the abandoned couple.

I may be wrong, but I think Auguste might have entered into the story, very briefly, a couple hundred pages ago.

Maybe when I do my editing it will become clear to me.
