French term or phrase: Représentations visuelles
Ces représentations visuelles n’ont qu’une fonction illustrative..

I understand this refers to the appearance, the way the products look on the website. Can anyone help me with a better way to express this?

representations/visual representations/pictures?

Explanation:
These representations/visual representations are for illustration purposes only/ are solely for illustration purposes....

This is just what came to mind, there are probably better ways of saying it.

disagree  Valters Feists: Not clear which one you prefer and/or recommend. "Pictures" seems the simplest, but probably doesn't sound business-like enough; compare with "someone's facebook pictures".

visual aids

Explanation:
This is what I find most often in source texts that I translation to "représentatiosn visuelles"

My guess is the source text did not use "photo" or "image" on purpose, this must be something more general.

See how visual aids are defined, this is general enough to include pictures, maps, tables, charts, diagrams, animated GIFs or even videos:

Notes to answerer
Asker: Thanks for your input, Didier. It is actually very clear from my context that this refers to pictures (images) of products shoppers view when shopping on the website.
