Si tratta di un articolo sull'uitlità o meno dei vari giochi ed esercizi di brain training. Qui, non ho capito il soggetto che cosa vedesullo schermo: "uno di due oggetti simili"?? E il secondo non lo vede?
Non ho proprio capito la descrizione, non ho trovato nulla in rete su questo specifico esperimento, se qcuno sa aiutarmi....

The study, known as ACTIVE (Advanced Cognitive Training
for Independent and Vital Elderly), found that the most effective
computerized training was the one that targeted speed
of processing, specifically a game challenging people’s “useful
field of view,” or UFOV. For a brief blip of a moment, the
player sees one of two similar-looking objects in the center of
a computer screen and, simultaneously, a third object on the
far edge of the screen. The challenge is to correctly identify
which of the two objects was in the center and where exactly
the object on the periphery was. Easy at the beginning, it becomes
harder as the images flash by ever more quickly. Most
everyone, however, gets more accurate at faster speeds over a
period of days and weeks.

La sfida è identificare correttamente quale, tra due oggetti simili, il soggetto ha visto al centro dello schermo.

Riformulerei così, spiegando dopo che il confronto viene fatto con un oggetto simile (non è espresso molto bene in inglese, a meno che non introduca già prima questi due oggetti)
