The significance of the word steuerlich is however unclear. I looked at the previous questions asked on Proz but didnt find a satisfactory answer.

For journeys using your private car, the expenses shall be reimbursed in accordance with the travel expense rates subject to deduction of tax. Food and accommodation shall be subject to the tax contributions or the flat-rate payments for tax purposes.

Can someone throw some light on the use of steuerlich in this context?
