Spanish term or phrase: Destacar
¿Cuál sería el término adecuado en inglés para decir que un hotel "destaca" o "se caracteriza" por ofrecer determinados servicios o instalaciones que difícilmente se encuentran en otros hoteles?

Por ejemplo:
-Este hotel destaca por ser el único en Cozumel en ofrecer un campo de golf de 18 hoyos
-Esta bella propiedad destaca por su piscina panorámica en la terraza

Gracias de antemano.

Explanation:
I'd take some liberties with the original here, as the text is designed to sell the property's good points, for example:

"The only hotel in Cozumel with an 18-hole golf course"
"This beautiful property features a stunning panoramic pool on the terrace" or "A salient feature of this beautiful property is the panoramic pool on its terrace".

is / has

Explanation:
I usually ditch this in English and swap it for is or has:

This hotel is the only one in Cozumel that offers...

This beautiful property has a panoramic pool...

agree  Charles Davis: I often take the same line (though "destacar" does sometimes means something). Although you apparently posted a matter of seconds after Robert, I think your answer is clearer and more helpful.

agree  Charles Davis: I think the point about compensating for the omission of "destacar" by beefing it up a little in other ways is sound and useful.

-> Thanks, Charles. Yes, quite normal for this kind of text, as our colleagues "destacan" here :)

agree  Carol Gullidge: whilst I agree with your reasoning, the problem with this answer s that it cannot be entered in any of the Glossaries//a bit pedantic, I know, but the TT is required to be st that can go in the glossary. You cd get round this by changing the Source Term

-> Thanks Carol, but I don't really see your point. I don't see the glossary as the only objective of this forum. No criticism of your choice but the answer you've chosen does basically the same thing.

Stands out

Explanation:
Stands out from others, because this hotel has something special.

Example sentence(s):
  • Catty stands out from the other students, because she is smart.
  • Put me in a category where i can stand out.

neutral  Robert Forstag: It is highly unlikely that the phrase "stands out" would be used by any professional writing this kind of ad copy in English, and I really don't think it works as a translation of "destacar" here.
