French term or phrase: fil numérique
I am translating a poem for class from Haitian poet Louis-Philippe Dalembert. The line in question is "pour tout fil numérique." The context doesn't seem to offer much help, but the poem itself seems to be about a boy moving somewhere new and leaving his home behind.

digital cable - but ...

Explanation:
I think that this does, literally, mean that instead of any digital cable to communicate (with his loved one(s)) the boy has the sun tucked under his arm or in his pocket.

However, I think you would have to think of a slightly different metaphor in order to translate this satisfactorily into English, as "digital cable" is rather too staccatto and abrupt.
