Without knowing the exact structure of the machine? I would at least undesratnd this as 'flows somewhere other than where it is meant to' — which in general terms might be described as a leak — possibly further qualified according to the actual form of the machine: 'leaks past...', 'leaks out of...' etc.

neutral  Didier Fourcot: Looks like a pint mixing machine per the reference added by asker, the writer should probably have used "fuit" for a leak, I do rather imagine a non-vertical line of flow, although I cannot see the issue, as long as the dye is in the pot...

  -> I think that's the whole point: not going where it's meant to = leaking away from its proper path, i.e. NOT going in the can. 'leak' and 'fuir' are used slightly differently between FR and EN

I don't own a dry mount press of any description but if something really ... they are kinda laser printed and the ink runs when re heated .... melt & bleed together in a hot machine - giving a "fuzzy" or "blurred" look to the map.

neutral  Tony M: Not really here, i don't think; this is about what the pigment (NOT the paint itself) does in the machine, not once it has been painted onto something.
