Spanish translation: modificador

English to Spanish translations [PRO]
Tech/Engineering - Computers: Software / software
English term or phrase: Switch
Contexto: "On the command line, a switch consists of a switch specifier, either a dash (-) or a forward slash (/), followed by the name of the switch. Switch names cannot be abbreviated".

Aunque en el ambito informático se suela utilizar el término en inglés ¿Cómo lo traducirías?
pd. He encontrado la traducción conmutador, pero por lo que he entendido, conmutador es un hardware y no parte del programa informático
Gracias,
