@ David: Auf welche Referenz bezieht sich der Kommentar? Bei IATE wird "Koplinie" in praktisch allen Fachgebieten mit "centre line" übersetzt, auch bei reiner Mathematik.

@ David: "Befindet sich der Kopf in Ruhestellung, so deckt sich die Kopflinie mit der Bezugslinie" is in fact off the subject and its translation "When the head is at rest the head line is situated in the extension of the reference line", too.

I cited such references (the first 3 links) only to cover all types of “head lines”, not considered in my proposal. This line type is a centre line, contrary to the other meaning of top line.

BTW: The context says: "Bei gebogenen Armaturen mit Überwurfmutter wird bis zum höchsten Punkt der Kopf-/ Mittellinie gemessen."It is unclear, whether "Kopfline" and "Mittelline" should be regarded as identical or different and whether you asked for one term or two.
