Tech/Engineering - Construction / Civil Engineering / Tilbakerømning?
Norwegian term or phrase: Tilbakerømning
Does anyone know what this is in English?

It appears in the description of the "fire concept" for a hotel in Norway. There are two instances:

Wikipedia has a decent explanation of the concept:

Any help greatly appreciated. Many thanks.

Asker: I agree that this is the type of lock, but I actually needed the action. Many thanks!

neutral  Vedis Bjørndal: I agree that this probably is the term for the type of lock, but 'tilbakerømning' is an action performed by people. One could of course rephrase the sentence using your option.

Emergency re-entry

Explanation:
I think this concept may be unique to Norway (see reference) and so needs a new translation. I propose "emergency re-entry". This describes what is happens and fits the context of the examples you have given.

PS I wish all term enquirers were as good as you, Mark, in providing plenty of context!

Example sentence(s):
  • The locking system is to be designed so that emergency re-entry is possible.

Asker: Good answer - but Vedis had it spot-on for this context. Thanks for the comment about context provided.
