To apply pressure against (something), especially for the purpose of moving it: pushedthe door but couldn't budge it. b. To move (something) by exerting force against it; thrust or shove: pushed the crateaside. 2. To force (one's way): We pushed our way through the crowd. 3. To urge forward or urge insistently; pressure: pushed him to study harder. 6. a. Informal To promote or sell (a product): The author pushed her latest book by makingappearances in bookstores. v.intr. 1. To exert pressure or force against something: winds pushing against the sail. 3. To advocate or recommend something insistently: pushed for a change in leadership. II MOŻLIWOŚĆ Push jest rzeczownikiem pochodzącym od czasownika frazowego ‘push for’ (podobnie jak ‘call for’ –czasownik frazowy i rzeczownik). Wówczas- jako czasownik „push for” miałby następujące znaczenia: http://idioms.thefreedictionary.com/push for push for something to request or demand something. The citizens are pushing for an investigation of the policedepartment. My secretary is pushing for a raise. push for v. To request or demand something insistently: Taxpayers are pushing for tax reforms. See also: for, push push for something - IMPORTANT to make a strong effort to get something or make something happen The president is meeting withmembers of Congress to push for an increase in the minimum wage.
