For an AIDS prevention short film, you can see somebody skydiving and the (final) message is "n'oubliez pas, sautez couvert"
"Remember, never dive in unprotected" doesn't really get the French wordplay.

You can make a pun with the rude meaning "sauter" involves here. Since AIDS is less lethal than it used to be but still dangerous, and since lay and slay have close sonorities, I have attempted this pun.

Thinking outside the box here, and drawing on the comparison of the "protection" against the "risk" involved in skydiving and unprotected sex, i.e., a parachute or form of contraception, respectively; to deliver the message strongly, you could say "You wouldn't jump out of a plane without a parachute, now, would you?" (or similar, which in this context would imply "So why would you have sex without protection?").

Just a thought.

agree  philgoddard: Perfect! I find the previous suggestions slightly distasteful, referring to sex in terms of jumping, diving, plunging and even slaying.

  -> Glad you think so, Phil — thanks! Based on the description of someone skydiving, and the inherent risk involved in both that and unprotected sex, "leap of faith" and “leap into the darkness” came straight to mind, but I think the former works best.
