Appreciate your help with the following Dominican expression from Contreras (1986).

ST: Pero pronto se cambiarán decía mi abuela, el mundo es redondo y puyú. En la próxima puya te caes tú y oliendo en el aire...

Does anyone actually say this today in the Dominican Republic?

This is my attempt:

But they´ll soon change as my grandmother would say, the world is round and prickly. With the next prick, you´ll fall, with your nose up in the air…

I think "puya" is just a play on words
