(BrE:) Legal Executive Explanation: Maybe these distinctions do exist on the British Isles, but some interpreters and translators - who have never worked in a legal environment - don't know them. A Legal Exec. - not a qualified lawyer as such, but certainly a member of the third branch of legal professionwould also often have GCSEs or A-Levels 'only' and work in a Solicitors' Office vs. Barristers' Chambers, but not unknown. In the latter case, not a Chamber's Clerk, but an assistant e.g. on secondment from another jurisdiction. cf. Legal-Executive Advocate - with rights of audience in the higher court FILEX: Fellow of the Institute of Legal Execs: the one I worked with certainly knew more than the newly qualified Solicitors queuing up to pick his brains. PSL: professional support lawyer Barristers' Chambers: Chambers' Clerk assigning briefs; now often known as Practice Managers to avoid takling the Clerks' Exam. Example sentence(s):
