From an interview with a footballer:

"Du hast deine Kritiker seit den Serienmeisterschaften in der Bundesliga, aber noch deutlicher nach der Weltmeisterschaft 2014 verstummen lassen."

"You have silenced your critics since ??? in the Bundesliga, but even more so after the 2014 World Cup."

I feel like I should know this but I just can't put my finger on it - any help is greatly appreciated!

There's no such thing as a Serienmeisterschaft. You can have a Serienmeister, or speak of Serienmeisterschaften...

somebody comes up with a viable alternative to an already posted answer? The notion that there can be only one solution to a query strikes me as very odd. Besides, for queries like this, I have no need for thesauri at all, and if I did, I definitely wouldn’t use the one you suggested….

I'm going to close this without awarding points. This is simply because both answers offered are correct depending on context. I went for 'back-to-back' because it fit the context, but 'string'/'consecutive' could work just as well in certain cases.

Hi Cilian, I don't know when the interview was but you're right - by the time of the WC, they had only won 2 titles in a row, so I'm thinking of using 'consecutive' or 'back-to-back'. Once again, thanks everyone!

Yes, three championships or more are "Serienmeisterschaften" but in English it has to be described in two words - consecutive championships.

because in your text ("even more so") it sounds like the "Serie" happened before the 2014 WC, and at that point in time he had only won two consecutive titles.
@Nick: Any idea how recent the interview is?

Hi Cilian, it's Jerome Boateng, who plays for Bayern Munich. Munich have just won 3 consecutive Bundesligas - all since Boateng has been there. Due to the general tone of the text, I'm leaning more towards 'consecutive' than 'string' cos I think that's a little too emphatic for what I need, but I'll wait and see. Thanks everyone!

Who's the player? That info would simplify matters greatly, as "string" IMO only works if he won 3 or more consecutive titles.

“Serienmeisterschaften” sounds pretty emphatic to me. In fact, I am tempted to replace “string/series” with “serial” which captures that nuance more effectively, in my opinion:

“Your critics quieted down following serial championships in the Bundesliga, and really fell silent after the 2014 World Cup”
