Bonjour,

"Demolishing, if any, of all installations no-longer required;
Creation of four new ***electronic interlocking systems***, according to the new track layout (ready to be interfaced with ETCS Level 1);"

Merci beaucoup.

In railway signalling, an interlocking is an arrangement of signal apparatus that prevents conflicting movements through an arrangement of tracks such as junctions or crossings. The signalling appliances and tracks are sometimes collectively referred to as an interlocking plant. An interlocking is designed so that it is impossible to display a signal to proceed unless the route to be used is proven safe.
In North America, the official railroad definition of interlocking is: "An arrangement of signals and signal appliances so interconnected that their movements must succeed each other in proper sequence"
:
Interlocking types
Interlockings can be categorized as mechanical, electrical (electro-mechanical or relay-based), or electronic/computer-based.
:
A minimal interlocking consists of signals, but usually includes additional appliances such as points (US: switches) and derails, and may include crossings at grade and movable bridges. Some of the fundamental principles of interlocking include:
• Signals may not be operated to permit conflicting train movements to take place at the same time.
• Switches and other appliances in the route must be properly 'set' (in position) before a signal may allow train movements to enter that route.
• Once a route is set and a train is given a signal to proceed over that route, all switches and other movable appliances in the route are locked in position until either
o the train passes out of the portion of the route affected, or
o the signal to proceed is withdrawn and sufficient time has passed to ensure that a train approaching that route has had opportunity to come to a stop before passing the signal.

Solid State Interlocking (SSI) is the brand name of the first generation processor-based interlocking developed in the 1980s by British Rail's Research Division, GEC-General Signal and Westinghouse Signals Ltd in the UK.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solid_State_Interlocking

IECCs were developed as an alternative to the traditional switch or button panel control, which in turn replaced mechanical lever frames. From the start, they controlled Solid State Interlockings (SSIs), a software version of the traditional relay interlocking, but existing relay interlockings may also be controlled from an IECC. The system can control as many miles of track as required, but typically around 50–100 miles.

Automatic block signaling, or ABS, is a railroad communications system that consists of a series of signals that divide a railway line into a series of sections, or "blocks". The system controls the movement of trains between the blocks using automatic signals. ABS operation is designed to allow trains operating in the same direction to follow each other in a safe manner without risk of rear end collision. The introduction of ABS reduced railways' costs and increased their capacity, compared to older manual block systems that required human operators. The automatic operation comes from the system's ability to detect if blocks are occupied or otherwise obstructed, and conveying that information to approaching trains.

:
Niveau 1

Fonctionnement de l'ETCS niveau 1
EVC = European Vital Computer (l'ordinateur embarqué)
https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Système_européen_de_contrôle_d...
ETCS is specified at four different levels:
• Level 0: ETCS-compliant locomotives or rolling stock interact with lineside equipment that is non-ETCS compliant.
• Level 1: ETCS is installed on lineside (possibly superimposed with legacy systems) and on board; spot transmission of data from track to train via ETCS balises
• Level 2: Same as level 1, but ETCS data transmission is continuous; the currently used data carrier is GSM-R
• Level 3: Same as level 2, but train location and train integrity supervision no longer rely on trackside equipment such as track circuits or axle counters
:
Level 1 is a cab signalling system that can be superimposed on the existing signalling system, leaving the fixed signal system (national signalling and track-release system) in place. Eurobalise radio beacons pick up signal aspects from the trackside signals via signal adapters and telegram coders (Lineside Electronics Unit – LEU) and transmit them to the vehicle as a movement authority together with route data at fixed points. The on-board computer continuously monitors and calculates the maximum speed and the braking curve from these data. Because of the spot transmission of data, the train must travel over the Eurobalise beacon to obtain the next movement authority. With the installation of additional Eurobalises ("infill balises") or a EuroLoop between the distant signal and main signal, the new proceed aspect is transmitted continuously. The EuroLoop is an extension of the Eurobalise over a particular distance which basically allows data to be transmitted continuously to the vehicle over cables emitting electromagnetic waves. A radio version of the EuroLoop is also possible.

According to the specification, the new interlocking technology has to control, monitor and signalise 86 single points and six double-slip points by means of 160 axle-counting circuits with 328 axle counters
