The police have charged you with a crime and will have given you a charge sheet giving the details of the offence you are accused of.
You may have received police bail or, if bail was refused, you will be held in custody until your first court appearance.
Your bail sheet will give a place, date and time for you to come to court. This may be the first of many court appearances, not necessarily in the same court building.
You have the right to speak to a solicitor (also known as a lawyer) who will give you advice on what is happening throughout the process.
