The real issue is what the author meant. If he had meant "academic" he could have said "universitaire". If he had meant "learned", then "érudit". "Etudiants" are not necessarily university level and the assumption that they are educated has to be a joke these days !

but there is a general assumption that university students (les étudiants) are educated above average, and are certainly supposed to be so by the end of their studies ...

Yes @Nikki Scott-Despaigne, you're right. 'Logiques' is used in French so much more than 'logic' in English that I'm always keen not to translate it this way, but I can see why it could work well here. Also, 'academic' is probably better than 'intellectual' here. Thank you.

I would suggest that the term "emphasis" is not quite accurate enough for "logiques intellectuelles et éditoriales". Were this mine, I'd go with:
"academic/intellectual and editorial logic".
From the rest of your context, you will know whether "intellectuelles" is in reference to the intellect or if it has a wider meaning, "academic".

the idea of combining two things.
A "moteur de recherche" = search engine, so it is clear that this meaning exists : seeking both... and....
BTW "un public étudiant" is NOT an educated public
