масло из кандила oil from an icon lamp / icon lampion Explanation: I've figured it out! Yay! :) There is a typo in the text: it should be кандило, not кадило. "Кандило" is a icon lamp / lampion: a small lamp (with oil and a wick) that hangs in front of an icon for illumination. There is no Wikipedia article for "кандило", but if you google it you'll get tons of results. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 9 hrs (2015-08-15 08:08:49 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Thank you, Deborah! :) It took some reading and thinking... -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 9 hrs (2015-08-15 08:17:49 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- PS. Apparently, confusing "кандило" and "кадило" (either by not knowing the difference or through typos) is pretty common. Even in the story from an Orthodox forum that I had quoted in my first answer, since hidden by me, both words are used interchangeably (at the end of the page here http://wap.drevlepravoslavie.forum24.ru/?1-14-90-00000359-00... ). |
