I myself would use the active voice for both instances : The cutting action is retried without sounding the alarm. If no detection is made, the alarm is sounded to request an inspection. Without more context I can't tell what is being cut, and what is being detected, but if that has been made clear the second sentence might sound more naturat as If no XXXX is detected, the alarm is sounded to request an inspection. |
