provident building Explanation: I am totally ok with "speculative building" because that´s what it is (in most cases) . I wondered though if there is a more euphemistic English word for it (like Vorratsbau in German), something along the lines of " build ahead" or " reserve building" so I´m throwing this in solely for the sake of creativity, discussion and thoughts. After all Vorrat is a stock, a precautious device so to speak. |

advance building Explanation: This is what I would say from a purely linguistic stance, unfortunately googling doesn't really confirm it. |

speculative building Explanation: and development or construction with no formal commitment from the end users of the finished product. http://www.allbusiness.com/barrons_dictionary/dictionary-spe... the activity of building houses without having any buyers waiting for them: http://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/business-english/... (Not necessarily the same as 'building by speculators', which would obviously be a 'bad thing'.) -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 8 hrs (2015-02-27 19:02:29 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Y-Man has cornered the market in 'speculative building', so here is another option to consider: [a policy of] building for the future https://www.dacorum.gov.uk/docs/default-source/housing/build... |
