French term or phrase: nuances de soi
Hello,

The context is a Powerpoint presentation on makeup and the sentence giving me trouble is as follows :

Le maquillage, c'est l'étape ultime, l'un des plus grands accessoires de transformation, une palette de jeux et d'expressions de nuances de soi.

My try, which I'm not happy with, is "Makeup is the final stage, one of the most important transformation aids, a way to play and express different aspects of oneself."

Any suggestions please?

English translation:which allows you to experiment and explore different facets of your personality
Explanation:
This is not so close to the original but sounds natural I think. "Experiment" instead of play, or possibly "play around" which is the idea conveyed by "jeux".

... those nuances/subtleties from within.

Explanation:
"... a palette to play with, and express, those nuances/subtleties from within."

Or "...from within ourselves"

idea. I like keeping nuances or subtleties as it works well with the idea of emotions etc, which is ideally part of "soi" I presume.

Nuance would also be a good word to describe the colors of a paint palette or a make up palette:

"The Mehron Makeup Paradise AQ Palettes are a semi-soft, water activated, moist cake makeup in a convenient palette. Available in a basic color, pastel color, tropical color, metallic color, brilliant color or a NUANCE COLOR CONFIGURATION."

agree  Victoria Britten: No need for "the", to my mind: the French doesn't use it.

agree  KMPrice: "nuances" instead of facets (to tie in with the colour aspect of makeup) and "inner self" rather than personality, to tie into how makeup transforms your outer self (this may appear twice, proz seems to have eaten my response)
