Do you want to translate the Dutch text (http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pomelo) into English or are you worried about the botanical exactness of the source text? There is a difference between a 'pompelmoes' (http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pompelmoes) and a 'grapefruit' (http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grapefruit) although part of the Dutch-speaking community prefers to call both fruits 'pompelmoes'.

I also agree that the Dutch is inaccurate here. The only way to establish exactly what is meant is to get pictures or Latin names of each fruit referred to. There are various types of grapefruit: http://www.bonappetit.com/test-kitchen/cooking-tips/article/... To confuse the matter even further, this site says the grapefruit is a cross between a pomelo and an orange!

Shaddock is allied to the orange and the lemon and is native to mainland Southeast Asia and the Malaysian portion of the island of Borneo. The name shaddock is said to have derived from that of a captain who introduced the tree to the West Indies. The leaves are like those of the orange but have broadly winged petioles and are downy on the undersurface, as are the young shoots. The flowers are large and white and are succeeded by very large spheroid or almost pear-shaped fruits that resemble grapefruit, being lemon yellow and having a pungent, tart, but agreeable flavour. The pulp segments are either pallid or red and shell out easily. The fruit is highly prized in Asia.

I think the Dutch is wrong. As far as I can see, pompelmoes means pomelo, and it's not a cross between anything. It's like a grapefruit, but bigger.
