Hi there,

I am translating a patent with the title above (not the full title), and I have the abstract in both french and english, "ébauche" is translated by "blank" but I don't know whether to use this or not, I'm havig trouble finding "blank" in a textile context, the IATE gives blank for the metalworking industry and also the medical field, but nothing in the textile industry, I have been using "preform" up until now but would like some insight (in the GDT have found "preform" in industrie de la confection but still not sure whether it fits the context,

here is a sentence with "ébauche" in

"l'article obtenu après le premier stade du procédé de l'invention est une ébauche du produit fini, qui nécessite divers traitements dont généralement au moins un traitement de confection (par exemple pour assembler les deux tubes du collant) et un traitement de teinture."
