Mikszáth Kálmán: A két koldusdiák c. regényében szerepel ez a szó, ebben a környezetben:

"Ágy hátán ágy a szobákban, az ágyakban kettesével háltak a »nebulók«. A bagoly-diákból kettő számít egy »filozófust« vagy »poétát«. Mert a rétortól kezdve fölfelé már külön ágy dukált Dobos néninél, s »Domine« titulus a professzor uraknál."

Annyit már kiderítettem, hogy a bagoly-diák az első éves diák a református kollégiumban. A Wikipedia szerint a rétor görög eredetű szó és szónokot jelent:

Azonban a szövegkörnyezet miatt feltételezem, hogy a "rétor" itt az egy idősebb diák, de vajon hanyadéves? Ismeri valaki ezeket a régi elnevezéseket?

Köszönöm szépen mindenkinek, a belinkelt MEK-es anyagot is. Az én olvasatomban ötödéves Debrecenben is, végülis nem kell 100% pontosan, mert nem fordítom, csak egy csoport gyerekkel olvassuk.
