¡Hola! Una preguntita...

Necesito traducir el nombre del curso "Teatro, humanismo y sociedad" (no tengo más contexto) y no logro decidirme sobre el equivalente de "teatro".

Estaba leyendo que la diferencia entre "theater" y "drama" es que "drama" es lo que está escrito y "theater" cómo se ejecuta. Busqué nombres de cursos (inclusive departamentos de universidades) y encuentro que ambas opciones se usan, por ejemplo "Claire Trevor Professor of Drama", "Assistant Professor of Theater".

¿Alguna idea de qué sería lo correcto?

In cases like this, it's worth looking at the actual syllabus, which says:

"A través de la historia y el desarrollo socio-cultural y político de las naciones el teatro ha sido un aliado incondicional en el progreso integral de las diversas sociedades y ha servido como medio de expresión y manifestación de los pueblos. Por ello este curso pretende, desde una perspectiva teórico-práctica, investigar y conocer sobre las diferentes manifestaciones y características de géneros y movimientos teatrales que se han generado a través de la historia y los aportes brindados a la humanidad.

So you could possibly say "humanity" rather than "humanism", especially since the Spanish says 'humanidad". But for what it's worth, here's the Wikipedia definition of humanism:

"A philosophical and ethical stance that emphasizes the value and agency of human beings, individually and collectively, and generally prefers critical thinking and evidence (rationalism, empiricism) over established doctrine or faith (fideism)."

Asker: A college professor from this university answered me that the proper term is "Drama"; Theater would only apply to the courses of the "Theater study program".
