Infra-red curing of coatings
I think this works best because it is an infrared machine they purchased. Thanks for the help!

disagree  mchd: le traitement thermique a pour but de changer les caractéristiques du matériau sur lequel il est appliqué. Il n'est pas question ici de changer les propriétés du métal.

-> You seem to have misunderstood my answer

agree  Tony M: We don't know in what way this 'cuisson' affects the coating, so this might be the general solution we need here. it is of course the coating that is being subjected to 'heat treatment', for whatever purpose that may be.
1 hr
-> Thanks Tony. We also don't know how the heat is applied, so best to keep it general.

neutral  Tony M: The point is, the question is about the 'cuisson' of these 'revêtements' — i.e. not the actual coatings themselves (even if that may, of course, be fortuitously true).
1 hr
-> oui, effectivement, on parle de cuisson, mais pas de traitement thermique.

neutral  B D Finch: I wouldn't be so rude as to make this a disagree, but the context supplied by the Asker clearly shows this is not about "thermal coatings".

stoving / heat-curing / fusing coatings

Explanation:
Clearly they are talking in very general terms about heating coatings — but we don't know which particular types of coating may be involved. Unfortunately, the terms used for different types ofcoatings are different too; and I really can't think of another single-word solution that would be general enough to fit all cases.

For example:

If the coating is stove-enamel, it will be 'stoved'

If the coating is some form off powder coating, it will be 'fused'

If the coating is certain other kinds of thermo-setting products, it will be 'cured'.

Even though I find it difficult to find a single term that covers them all, I don't think individually or collectively these could be said to be 'wrong'.

disagree  mchd: on part d'une base métal ! Invalidation oui, certainement sur la base des termes indiqués dans votre réponse !
24 mins
-> Et alors ?! Many different kinds of coating can be applied to a metal substrate and then subsequently require the application of heat to in some way 'cure' them — e.g. stove-enamel, epoxy powder coating, etc. etc. How would that invalidate my suggestion?

agree  B D Finch: Any of those could be right. Insufficient context to know which it is.
2 hrs
-> Thanks, B! I think the problem is that it is any and/or all of them — the context requires an all-embracing term, which is why yours may be more suitable.
