Hello all,
I'm translating material on various motorboats, really not sure how to express the following. It's the carré bit that's confusing me! Thanks for any help....
La plage avant dispose d´un bain de soleil de plus de 3 m de long. Elle se transforme aisément en un carré - terrasse pouvant accueillir 8 convives tandis que la banquette arrière prévue pour 4 personnes est équipée d´un grand volume de rangement.

agree  Tony M: Yes, of course! 'carré' is the nautical equivalent of 'salon' or 'lounge', so it makes perfect sense to have a 'lounge area' up on deck.
