Portuguese term or phrase: tendências políticas mais acentuadamente liberais ou conservadoras
Hi everyone! I'm translating the following academic abstract and am not sure how to translate 'tendências', considering that the text then says 'preocupadas'...there's probably an obvious solution but I'm drawing a blank. Thanks for your help!

English translation:the more liberal or conservative voices/movements
Explanation:
Since this is the subject of a highly complex sentence, you need "the," which is missing in the Portuguese. Also, I don't think you have to translate "acentuadamente" because "mais" says it all.

The translation of the main parts of the sentence might be something like:
"During the term of the Brazilian Empire, political views more strongly liberal or conservative, concerned about the political organization of the imperial state,..., clashed around the legislation on judicial organization...".

Instead of "political views/trends/ideologies", maybe you can opt for "political parties" or even just "politicians".

agree  andrescardoso: I would go with 'voices'. Just a few people were allowed in politics in those days.
